Morton’s
Bistro Northwest has been serving the Mid-Willamette Valley since November
1989, specializing in the finest locally available products and wines.
Morton’s was a dream of Steve and Annie Morton’s following
Steve’s colorful career as a chef in local “hot spots”
since high school.
Together,
Steve: an avid outdoorsman, and Annie: a dedicated teacher, formed the
local grassroots foundation for a charming sixty seat bistro serving
outstanding home cooked meals without that corporate packaged feel.
The bistro prides itself in the personal touch that makes one feel right
at home in the first visit.
The restaurant is located at 1128 Edgewater NW in West Salem, in a basement
that has enjoyed many reincarnations from a turn of the last century
speakeasy to several well known fine dining establishments through 70’s
and 80’s. The location had been empty except for the local ghosts
that reportedly walked the floors at night in the late 80’s. The
Morton’s
and crew dusted it off in the fall of 1989, and started serving the
local fare they have become famous for. Continuing acclaim in NW Best
Places as well as Best Pick in Salem’s Statesman Journal newspaper,
and notice in Bon Appetite establish Morton’s as one of the regions
best, unpretentious dining spots.
Morton serves a continual seasonal rotation of local favorites interpreted
by the kitchen and floor staff in a carousel of Oregon favors and textures.
Complimented by local and imported wines available by the bottle or
glass, with very reasonable prices. All this has made the bistro a favorite
haunt for locals and visitors.
